Paatotsav (Inauguration Day) โ€” 7 July

07 July 2026

The temple's annual inauguration day, celebrated every 7 July with grand decoration, kalash yatra, and Maha Abhishek.

Paatotsav (Inauguration Day) is celebrated every year at Brihaspati Dham Mandir on 7 July โ€” the day in 2009 when the 5.5 ft. idol of Lord Brihaspati was first established in the temple.

What happens on Paatotsav

The temple is decorated with alluring lights and thousands of garlands (phool mala). On 6 July, a kalash yatra takes place โ€” hundreds of women carry earthen pots filled with holy Ganga water from a nearby temple to Brihaspati Dham, singing holy songs of Lord Brihaspati along the way.

The same Ganga water is used the next morning to shower the idol of Lord Brihaspati. Holy priests chant the Vishnu Sahastra Naam alongside a havan. In the afternoon a Maha Abhishek (full ritual shower) is performed using panchamrit, pure ghee, sugar, and holy mantras.

After the Abhishek, the idol is decorated with garlands and a new dress. The evening Maha Aarti is followed by bhojan prasadi โ€” a community dinner where thousands of devotees join.
