Guru Poornima — Honouring the Guru
21 July 2026
Guru Poornima is the day to honour the Guru. At Brihaspati Dham, Dev Guru Brihaspati — the Guru of all gods — is worshipped with special pujas and aarti.
Guru Poornima is observed on the full moon day of the Hindu month of Ashadha. It is the day every shishya (disciple) bows to their Guru.
At Brihaspati Dham Mandir, Dev Guru Brihaspati — the Guru of all gods, after whom the temple is named — receives special worship. Devotees who consider themselves Brihaspati's shishya gather for the Maha Aarti, abhishek, and Guru Poornima vrat.
What happens on Guru Poornima
The day begins with the morning aarti and a special abhishek of Lord Brihaspati. Devotees offer flowers, fruits, and yellow cloth — the colours dear to Brihaspati. Pandit ji conducts mantra jaap and sankalpa for every yajman who wishes to be honoured by name in the day's rituals.
In the evening, a Maha Aarti and Guru bhajan kirtan complete the day. Bhojan prasadi is served to all devotees who attend.
Book a Guru Poornima puja
If you cannot be present in person, book a Brihaspati puja online — Pandit ji performs it on Guru Poornima in your name. Photo and video proof are sent to you afterwards.
