Activities, Festivals & Pujas at Brihaspati Dham

Brihaspati Dham Mandir celebrates multiple events throughout the year, alongside weekly rituals every Thursday. These celebrations are organised by Brihaspati Dham and the Brihaspati Pariwar volunteers, and are visited by devotees from across cities, states, and countries to attain the blessings of Lord Brihaspati.

No bookings are required to attend. If you wish to take direct part in any of these events — or contribute — please contact the Mandir office.

Every year on 6–7 July

Paatotsav (Inauguration Day)

Paatotsav on 7 July is celebrated every year to mark the day the temple was established. The 5.5 ft. idol of Lord Brihaspati was installed on 7 July 2009 with a grand celebration, and since that day every year on the very same date is celebrated as Paatotsav.

The temple is decorated with alluring lights and thousands of garlands (phool mala). On 6 July, the Kalash Yatra takes place — hundreds of women carry earthen pots filled with holy Ganga water from a nearby temple to Brihaspati Dham, singing devotional songs of Lord Brihaspati along the way. The same Ganga water is used to shower the idol the next day.

On 7 July, holy priests chant Vishnu Sahasranam along with a havan. In the afternoon, the Maha Abhishek of Lord Brihaspati takes place with panchamrit, pure ghee, sugar, and other ritualistic ingredients while the holy mantras are chanted.

After the Abhishek, the idol is decorated with garlands and dressed in new clothing. After the evening Maha Aarti, the bhojan prasadi begins — joined by thousands of devotees.

If you wish to take part in the next 7 July Paatotsav or contribute to the celebration, please contact the Mandir office.

Second Thursday of January

Posh Bada Prasad

In the month of January, Brihaspati Dham organises the Posh Bada Prasad offering. Posh is a month in the Hindu calendar, running from approximately mid-December to mid-January.

On this day, patties (pakoras / bada) made from lentils, and halwa made from fine semolina (suji / besan), are offered to the idol of Lord Dev Guru Brihaspati — usually before or after the Maha Aarti. Since Maha Aarti takes place every Thursday, this Posh Bada is celebrated on the second Thursday of every new year.

If you wish to be part of this ceremony or want more details, contact the Brihaspati Mandir office or book a Brihaspati puja online here.
